Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers {did}, so {do} ye.

Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.
And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.
Circumcise yourselves to the LORD, and take away the foreskins of your heart, ye men of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem: lest my fury come forth like fire, and burn that none can quench {it}, because of the evil of your doings.
But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, {and} he fought against them.
And {that} I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.
For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye {are} a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.
And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it {is} a stiffnecked people:
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear {is} uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou {art} a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the spirit by which he spake.
To whom our fathers would not obey, but thrust {him} from them, and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,
For circumcision verily profiteth, if thou keep the law: but if thou be a breaker of the law, thy circumcision is made uncircumcision.
And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation {that} set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God. {that...: Heb. that prepared not their heart}
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?
In that ye have brought {into my sanctuary} strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, {even} my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations. {strangers: Heb. children of a stranger}
But he that did his neighbour wrong thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?
And he said, If now I have found grace in thy sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray thee, go among us; for it {is} a stiffnecked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us for thine inheritance.
For he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither {is that} circumcision, which is outward in the flesh:
And the patriarchs, moved with envy, sold Joseph into Egypt: but God was with him,
Yet many years didst thou forbear them, and testifiedst against them by thy spirit in thy prophets: yet would they not give ear: therefore gavest thou them into the hand of the people of the lands. {forbear...: Heb. protract over them} {in thy...: Heb. in the hand of thy prophets}
Thus saith the Lord GOD; No stranger, uncircumcised in heart, nor uncircumcised in flesh, shall enter into my sanctuary, of any stranger that {is} among the children of Israel.
But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
For {they are} impudent children and stiffhearted. I do send thee unto them; and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD. {impudent: Heb. hard of face}
But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou {art} a stiffnecked people.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will punish all {them which are} circumcised with the uncircumcised; {punish: Heb. visit upon}
Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it {is} a stiffnecked people:
Because I knew that thou {art} obstinate, and thy neck {is} an iron sinew, and thy brow brass; {obstinate: Heb. hard}
And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.
Lift not up your horn on high: speak {not with} a stiff neck.
But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they should not hear. {pulled...: Heb. they gave a backsliding shoulder} {stopped: Heb. made heavy}
Now be ye not stiffnecked, as your fathers {were, but} yield yourselves unto the LORD, and enter into his sanctuary, which he hath sanctified for ever: and serve the LORD your God, that the fierceness of his wrath may turn away from you. {be ye...: Heb. harden not your necks} {yield...: Heb. give the hand}
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send {to be} a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Quench not the Spirit.

Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins. {aloud: Heb. with the throat}
But if it be of God, ye cannot overthrow it; lest haply ye be found even to fight against God.
To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear {is} uncircumcised, and they cannot hearken: behold, the word of the LORD is unto them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy {against} the {Holy} Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it {is} a stiffnecked people:
But the Comforter, {which is} the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this {man} to reign over us.
Woe to the rebellious children, saith the LORD, that take counsel, but not of me; and that cover with a covering, but not of my spirit, that they may add sin to sin:
And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also {is} flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way {that was} not good, after their own thoughts;
Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath trodden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant, wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace?
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, {thou} that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under {her} wings, and ye would not!
Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great {is} your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.
Unto a land flowing with milk and honey: for I will not go up in the midst of thee; for thou {art} a stiffnecked people: lest I consume thee in the way.
Why do ye not understand my speech? {even} because ye cannot hear my word.
Woe unto you! for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them.
Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, {as} silver and gold, from your vain conversation {received} by tradition from your fathers;
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they {are} a rebellious house.
Wherefore ye be witnesses unto yourselves, that ye are the children of them which killed the prophets.

And they were offended in him. But Jesus said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, save in his own country, and in his own house.
That this {is} a rebellious people, lying children, children {that} will not hear the law of the LORD:
And {that} I also have walked contrary unto them, and have brought them into the land of their enemies; if then their uncircumcised hearts be humbled, and they then accept of the punishment of their iniquity:
Ye have been rebellious against the LORD from the day that I knew you.

And when ye shall come into the land, and shall have planted all manner of trees for food, then ye shall count the fruit thereof as uncircumcised: three years shall it be as uncircumcised unto you: it shall not be eaten of.

And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, {Ye take} too much upon you, seeing all the congregation {are} holy, every one of them, and the LORD {is} among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? {Ye take...: Heb. And, behold, ye are risen up in your fathers' stead, an increase of sinful men, to augment yet the fierce anger of the LORD toward Israel.
Notwithstanding ye would not go up, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD your God:
Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.
They have corrupted themselves, their spot {is} not {the spot} of his children: {they are} a perverse and crooked generation. {They have...: Heb. He hath corrupted to himself} {their...: or, that they are not his children, that is their blot}
Notwithstanding they would not hear, but hardened their necks, like to the neck of their fathers, that did not believe in the LORD their God.
Wickedness {is} in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. {laden: Heb. of heaviness} {gone...: Heb. alienated, or, separated}
Thy first father hath sinned, and thy teachers have transgressed against me. {teachers: Heb. interpreters}
Egypt, and Judah, and Edom, and the children of Ammon, and Moab, and all {that are} in the utmost corners, that dwell in the wilderness: for all {these} nations {are} uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel {are} uncircumcised in the heart. {in the utmost...: Heb. cut off into corners, or, having the corners of their hair polled}
They are turned back to the iniquities of their forefathers, which refused to hear my words; and they went after other gods to serve them: the house of Israel and the house of Judah have broken my covenant which I made with their fathers.
This evil people, which refuse to hear my words, which walk in the imagination of their heart, and walk after other gods, to serve them, and to worship them, shall even be as this girdle, which is good for nothing. {imagination: or, stubbornness}
Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will bring upon this city and upon all her towns all the evil that I have pronounced against it, because they have hardened their necks, that they might not hear my words.
Behold, I have made thy face strong against their faces, and thy forehead strong against their foreheads.
But I said unto their children in the wilderness, Walk ye not in the statutes of your fathers, neither observe their judgments, nor defile yourselves with their idols:
In that ye have brought {into my sanctuary} strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, {even} my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations. {strangers: Heb. children of a stranger}
Neither have we hearkened unto thy servants the prophets, which spake in thy name to our kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.
{As} they called them, so they went from them: they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images.
Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;
But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
Even from the days of your fathers ye are gone away from mine ordinances, and have not kept {them}. Return unto me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye said, Wherein shall we return?
And Jesus answered and said unto them, For the hardness of your heart he wrote you this precept.
Truly ye bear witness that ye allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, and ye build their sepulchres.

Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.
But when divers were hardened, and believed not, but spake evil of that way before the multitude, he departed from them, and separated the disciples, disputing daily in the school of one Tyrannus.
But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
Shall horses run upon the rock? will {one} plow {there} with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
Thou shalt die the deaths of the uncircumcised by the hand of strangers: for I have spoken {it}, saith the Lord GOD.
They have set her a bed in the midst of the slain with all her multitude: her graves {are} round about him: all of them uncircumcised, slain by the sword: though their terror was caused in the land of the living, yet have they borne their shame with them that go down to the pit: he is put in the midst of {them that be} slain.
And the LORD spake to Manasseh, and to his people: but they would not hearken.

And he said unto me, Son of man, I send thee to the children of Israel, to a rebellious nation that hath rebelled against me: they and their fathers have transgressed against me, {even} unto this very day. {nation: Heb. nations}
For the children of Israel and the children of Judah have only done evil before me from their youth: for the children of Israel have only provoked me to anger with the work of their hands, saith the LORD.
But when the king heard {thereof}, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending {them}; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.
Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and {some} of them ye shall kill and crucify; and {some} of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute {them} from city to city:
The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
So I spake unto you; and ye would not hear, but rebelled against the commandment of the LORD, and went presumptuously up into the hill. {went...: Heb. ye were presumptuous, and went up}
And say unto him, By what authority doest thou these things? and who gave thee this authority to do these things?
And when the people were gathered thick together, he began to say, This is an evil generation: they seek a sign; and there shall no sign be given it, but the sign of Jonas the prophet.
Yet they hearkened not unto me, nor inclined their ear, but hardened their neck: they did worse than their fathers.
Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that {are} far from righteousness:
And spake unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority doest thou these things? or who is he that gave thee this authority?
We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly.
But they and our fathers dealt proudly, and hardened their necks, and hearkened not to thy commandments,
Of sin, because they believe not on me;
Wilt thou judge them, son of man, wilt thou judge {them}? cause them to know the abominations of their fathers: {Wilt...: or, Wilt thou plead for them}
Since the days of our fathers {have} we {been} in a great trespass unto this day; and for our iniquities have we, our kings, {and} our priests, been delivered into the hand of the kings of the lands, to the sword, to captivity, and to a spoil, and to confusion of face, as {it is} this day.
Wherefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Are ye polluted after the manner of your fathers? and commit ye whoredom after their abominations?
The LORD said moreover unto me; Son of man, wilt thou judge Aholah and Aholibah? yea, declare unto them their abominations; {judge: or, plead for}
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set {it} on, and also pour water into it:
The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing:
Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward {is} great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.
And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. {Is it} not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.
And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; {Is it} a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?
The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil.
Plead with your mother, plead: for she {is} not my wife, neither {am} I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
