But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people.
O Jerusalem, wash thine heart from wickedness, that thou mayest be saved. How long shall thy vain thoughts lodge within thee?
Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me.
Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.
But this people hath a revolting and a rebellious heart; they are revolted and gone.
But they rebelled, and vexed his holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, {and} he fought against them.
But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels {and} in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward. {imagination: or, stubbornness} {went: Heb. were}

For I {know} their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory.
For I know thy rebellion, and thy stiff neck: behold, while I am yet alive with you this day, ye have been rebellious against the LORD; and how much more after my death?

At that time they shall call Jerusalem the throne of the LORD; and all the nations shall be gathered unto it, to the name of the LORD, to Jerusalem: neither shall they walk any more after the imagination of their evil heart. {imagination: or, stubbornness}
And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst: {imagination: or, stubbornness} {drunkenness...: Heb. the drunken to the thirsty}
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
Thy princes {are} rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.
Remember, {and} forget not, how thou provokedst the LORD thy God to wrath in the wilderness: from the day that thou didst depart out of the land of Egypt, until ye came unto this place, ye have been rebellious against the LORD.
He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way {that is} not good; he abhorreth not evil. {mischief: or, vanity}
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by {his} fruit.
A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way {that is} not good.

Their feet run to evil, and they make haste to shed innocent blood: their thoughts {are} thoughts of iniquity; wasting and destruction {are} in their paths. {destruction: Heb. breaking}
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: {persecuted us: or, chased us out}

And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth {his hands} to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.
