And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified {him} not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
The fear of the LORD {is} the beginning of knowledge: {but} fools despise wisdom and instruction. {the beginning: or, the principal part}
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: {taking: or, yielding}
Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak {this} to your shame.
My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. {destroyed: Heb. cut off}
For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge?
Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.
For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Wherefore {is there} a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing {he hath} no heart {to it}?
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. {devotions: or, gods that ye worship}
For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water: {standing: Gr. consisting}
And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this {matter}.
Wherefore, though I might be much bold in Christ to enjoin thee that which is convenient,
Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; {imaginations: or, reasonings}
They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; {and} their hearts, that they cannot understand. {shut: Heb. daubed}

And they answered and said unto Jesus, We cannot tell. And Jesus answering saith unto them, Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.
But all these things will they do unto you for my name's sake, because they know not him that sent me.
And they answered Jesus, and said, We cannot tell. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us.
And Pharaoh said, Who {is} the LORD, that I should obey his voice to let Israel go? I know not the LORD, neither will I let Israel go.
Forty years long was I grieved with {this} generation, and said, It {is} a people that do err in their heart, and they have not known my ways:
And my heart hath been secretly enticed, or my mouth hath kissed my hand: {my mouth...: Heb. my hand hath kissed my mouth}

When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, {and} set them on fire: for it {is} a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.
The lips of the righteous feed many: but fools die for want of wisdom. {of wisdom: Heb. of heart}
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Wherefore I was grieved with that generation, and said, They do alway err in {their} heart; and they have not known my ways.
