And thou, Solomon my son, know thou the God of thy father, and serve him with a perfect heart and with a willing mind: for the LORD searcheth all hearts, and understandeth all the imaginations of the thoughts: if thou seek him, he will be found of thee; but if thou forsake him, he will cast thee off for ever.

God {is} a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship {him} in spirit and in truth.
I the LORD search the heart, {I} try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, {and} according to the fruit of his doings.

Now the just shall live by faith: but if {any man} draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I {am} the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these {things} I delight, saith the LORD.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.

The LORD {is} my strength and song, and he is become my salvation: he {is} my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:
I will behave myself wisely in a perfect way. O when wilt thou come unto me? I will walk within my house with a perfect heart.
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things {are} naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
And it shall come to pass, when many evils and troubles are befallen them, that this song shall testify against them as a witness; for it shall not be forgotten out of the mouths of their seed: for I know their imagination which they go about, even now, before I have brought them into the land which I sware. {against: Heb. before} {go...: Heb. do}
And he did {that which was} right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the way of David his father, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left.
Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear: {let...: or, let us hold fast}
If they obey and serve {him}, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.
Then hear thou from heaven thy dwelling place, and forgive, and render unto every man according unto all his ways, whose heart thou knowest; (for thou only knowest the hearts of the children of men:)
For rebellion {is as} the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness {is as} iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from {being} king. {witchcraft: Heb. divination}
If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then he will turn and do you hurt, and consume you, after that he hath done you good.
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth. {ground: or, stay}

And give unto Solomon my son a perfect heart, to keep thy commandments, thy testimonies, and thy statutes, and to do all {these things}, and to build the palace, {for} the which I have made provision.
And they that know thy name will put their trust in thee: for thou, LORD, hast not forsaken them that seek thee.
But thou hast cast off and abhorred, thou hast been wroth with thine anointed.
Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.
For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, {that} his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the LORD his God, as {was} the heart of David his father.
Let your heart therefore be perfect with the LORD our God, to walk in his statutes, and to keep his commandments, as at this day.
The LORD our God be with us, as he was with our fathers: let him not leave us, nor forsake us:
For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.
For thou {art} the God of my strength: why dost thou cast me off? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
God looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were {any} that did understand, that did seek God.
And if thou wilt walk in my ways, to keep my statutes and my commandments, as thy father David did walk, then I will lengthen thy days.
If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;
He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then {it was} well {with him: was} not this to know me? saith the LORD.
For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation {of the gospel} is committed unto me.

Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day {that} the LORD spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God {is} not among us? {befall: Heb. find}
And also all that generation were gathered unto their fathers: and there arose another generation after them, which knew not the LORD, nor yet the works which he had done for Israel.
And he forsook the LORD God of his fathers, and walked not in the way of the LORD.
Therefore he said unto Judah, Let us build these cities, and make about {them} walls, and towers, gates, and bars, {while} the land {is} yet before us; because we have sought the LORD our God, we have sought {him}, and he hath given us rest on every side. So they built and prospered.
A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent.
But, O LORD of hosts, that judgest righteously, that triest the reins and the heart, let me see thy vengeance on them: for unto thee have I revealed my cause.
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, {It is} because we have no bread.
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father {doth} his children,
That thou keep {this} commandment without spot, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

And God, which knoweth the hearts, bare them witness, giving them the Holy Ghost, even as {he did} unto us;
And as for thee, if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, and do according to all that I have commanded thee, and shalt observe my statutes and my judgments;
O LORD God of Abraham, Isaac, and of Israel, our fathers, keep this for ever in the imagination of the thoughts of the heart of thy people, and prepare their heart unto thee: {prepare: or, stablish}
Because that they have forsaken me, and have worshipped Ashtoreth the goddess of the Zidonians, Chemosh the god of the Moabites, and Milcom the god of the children of Ammon, and have not walked in my ways, to do {that which is} right in mine eyes, and {to keep} my statutes and my judgments, as {did} David his father.
Therefore now, LORD God of Israel, keep with thy servant David my father that thou promisedst him, saying, There shall not fail thee a man in my sight to sit on the throne of Israel; so that thy children take heed to their way, that they walk before me as thou hast walked before me. {fail...: Heb. be cut off unto thee a man from my sight} {so that: Heb. only if}
For the Amalekites and the Canaanites {are} there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you.

Hast thou not procured this unto thyself, in that thou hast forsaken the LORD thy God, when he led thee by the way?
For the LORD will not forsake his people for his great name's sake: because it hath pleased the LORD to make you his people.
