Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, {and} to keep himself unspotted from the world.

For God {is} not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.
For some {of them} thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy {those things} that we have need of against the feast; or, that he should give something to the poor.
For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
And when he looked on him, he was afraid, and said, What is it, Lord? And he said unto him, Thy prayers and thine alms are come up for a memorial before God.
And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore {him} fourfold.
{A} devout {man}, and one that feared God with all his house, which gave much alms to the people, and prayed to God alway.
And said, Cornelius, thy prayer is heard, and thine alms are had in remembrance in the sight of God.

Nor scrip for {your} journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat. {staves: Gr. a staff}
And he said unto them, Take nothing for {your} journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.
And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
And hath not oppressed any, {but} hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;
But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart; give ye them to eat.
If I have seen any perish for want of clothing, or any poor without covering;
And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits?
