And Festus said, King Agrippa, and all men which are here present with us, ye see this man, about whom all the multitude of the Jews have dealt with me, both at Jerusalem, and {also} here, crying that he ought not to live any longer.
For the multitude of the people followed after, crying, Away with him.
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this {man}, and release unto us Barabbas:
When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed on him with {their} teeth.
But they cried out, Away with {him}, away with {him}, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, {and are} the offscouring of all things unto this day.
Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you {from their company}, and shall reproach {you}, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

And as they went about to kill him, tidings came unto the chief captain of the band, that all Jerusalem was in an uproar.
For we have found this man {a} pestilent {fellow}, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice:
For, lo, thine enemies make a tumult: and they that hate thee have lifted up the head.
Because thy rage against me, and thy tumult, is come up into mine ears, therefore will I put my hook in thy nose, and my bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which thou camest.
Then spake the priests and the prophets unto the princes and to all the people, saying, This man {is} worthy to die; for he hath prophesied against this city, as ye have heard with your ears. {This man...: Heb. The judgment of death is for this man}
And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
Then Pilate said unto them, Why, what evil hath he done? And they cried out the more exceedingly, Crucify him.
We know that God spake unto Moses: {as for} this {fellow}, we know not from whence he is.
Pilate answered, Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me: what hast thou done?
When they heard {that}, they were cut {to the heart}, and took counsel to slay them.
For these causes the Jews caught me in the temple, and went about to kill {me}.
And say, Thus saith the king, Put this {fellow} in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I return in peace.
Then these presidents and princes assembled together to the king, and said thus unto him, King Darius, live for ever. {assembled...: or, came tumultuously}
