Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of myself, {yet} my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, and whither I go.
And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this {fellow} perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.
And they gave him audience unto this word, and {then} lifted up their voices, and said, Away with such a {fellow} from the earth: for it is not fit that he should live.
This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send {to be} a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his lord: and {one} said unto him, {Is} all well? wherefore came this mad {fellow} to thee? And he said unto them, Ye know the man, and his communication.
Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee?
For the law was given by Moses, {but} grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come:
For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, {there is} no beauty that we should desire him.
And say, Thus saith the king, Put this {fellow} in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what {is it which} these witness against thee?
He sent Moses his servant; {and} Aaron whom he had chosen.
But when the Pharisees heard {it}, they said, This {fellow} doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils. {Beelzebub: Gr. Beelzebul}
Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
They envied Moses also in the camp, {and} Aaron the saint of the LORD.
And they said, Hath the LORD indeed spoken only by Moses? hath he not spoken also by us? And the LORD heard {it}.
Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
But I {am} a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel.
And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for {I have} not {done them} of mine own mind.
Who was faithful to him that appointed him, as also Moses {was faithful} in all his house. {appointed: Gr. made}
Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, {with} the statutes and judgments.
And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the LORD knew face to face,
Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is.
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, {even} a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise {men} shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent {men} shall be hid. {proceed: Heb. add}

Shall I then take my bread, and my water, and my flesh that I have killed for my shearers, and give {it} unto men, whom I know not whence they {be}? {flesh: Heb. slaughter}
And the high priest arose, and said unto him, Answerest thou nothing? what {is it which} these witness against thee?
And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
Then they suborned men, which said, We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses, and {against} God.
Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?
