But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
The LORD will perfect {that which} concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, {endureth} for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands.
Then shall we know, {if} we follow on to know the LORD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter {and} former rain unto the earth.
Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.
Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock {whence} ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit {whence} ye are digged.
Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom {be} glory for ever and ever. Amen. {working: or, doing}
Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but {this} one thing {I do}, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Nevertheless, whereto we have already attained, let us walk by the same rule, let us mind the same thing.
Follow peace with all {men}, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
But grow in grace, and {in} the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him {be} glory both now and for ever. Amen.
For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same {is} a perfect man, {and} able also to bridle the whole body.
For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
