To whom we gave place by subjection, no, not for an hour; that the truth of the gospel might continue with you.
And he said unto them, Ye know how that it is an unlawful thing for a man that is a Jew to keep company, or come unto one of another nation; but God hath shewed me that I should not call any man common or unclean.
Now therefore why tempt ye God, to put a yoke upon the neck of the disciples, which neither our fathers nor we were able to bear?
Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.
As many as desire to make a fair shew in the flesh, they constrain you to be circumcised; only lest they should suffer persecution for the cross of Christ.
For the LORD God {is} a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good {thing} will he withhold from them that walk uprightly.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: {he is} a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
For it seemed good to the Holy Ghost, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things;
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed. {straight: or, even}
Wherefore my sentence is, that we trouble not them, which from among the Gentiles are turned to God:
Forasmuch as we have heard, that certain which went out from us have troubled you with words, subverting your souls, saying, {Ye must} be circumcised, and keep the law: to whom we gave no {such} commandment:
{Which stood} only in meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed {on them} until the time of reformation. {ordinances: or, rites, or, ceremonies}
But when Peter was come to Antioch, I withstood him to the face, because he was to be blamed.
I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that {there is} nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him {it is} unclean. {unclean: Gr. common}
Forbidding to marry, {and commanding} to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.
And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we {should go} unto the heathen, and they unto the circumcision.
But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as {the gospel} of the circumcision {was} unto Peter;

Saying, Thou wentest in to men uncircumcised, and didst eat with them.
He that walketh uprightly walketh surely: but he that perverteth his ways shall be known.
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart.
But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:
Open rebuke {is} better than secret love.
