In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to {his} purpose.
To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, {for you: or, for us}
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times {the things} that are not {yet} done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord:
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
For if the inheritance {be} of the law, {it is} no more of promise: but God gave {it} to Abraham by promise.
Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with {him}, that we may be also glorified together.
That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed {it} by an oath: {confirmed...: Gr. interposed himself by}
And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
To open their eyes, {and} to turn {them} from darkness to light, and {from} the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.
Him, being delivered by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by wicked hands have crucified and slain:
For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God.
Great in counsel, and mighty in work: for thine eyes {are} open upon all the ways of the sons of men: to give every one according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings: {work: Heb. doing}
The LORD knoweth the days of the upright: and their inheritance shall be for ever.
For who hath stood in the counsel of the LORD, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard {it}? {counsel: or, secret}
Who hath directed the Spirit of the LORD, or {being} his counsellor hath taught him? {his...: Heb. man of his counsel}
This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, {which} is wonderful in counsel, {and} excellent in working.
Even he shall build the temple of the LORD; and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne; and he shall be a priest upon his throne: and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.
But the LORD hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, {even} out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as {ye are} this day.
That say, Let him make speed, {and} hasten his work, that we may see {it}: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know {it}!
Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.

Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of {his} good pleasure.

The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
O LORD, thou {art} my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful {things; thy} counsels of old {are} faithfulness {and} truth.

Consider the work of God: for who can make {that} straight, which he hath made crooked?

Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good?

Who hath enjoined him his way? or who can say, Thou hast wrought iniquity?
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
For this shall the earth mourn, and the heavens above be black: because I have spoken {it}, I have purposed {it}, and will not repent, neither will I turn back from it.

The LORD of hosts hath purposed it, to stain the pride of all glory, {and} to bring into contempt all the honourable of the earth. {to stain: Heb. to pollute}
And a mighty king shall stand up, that shall rule with great dominion, and do according to his will.
But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land;
And it came to pass, as he talked with him, that {the king} said unto him, Art thou made of the king's counsel? forbear; why shouldest thou be smitten? Then the prophet forbare, and said, I know that God hath determined to destroy thee, because thou hast done this, and hast not hearkened unto my counsel. {determined: Heb. counselled}

Even so, Father: for so it seemed good in thy sight.
