The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, {and} seek God.

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.
But without faith {it is} impossible to please {him}: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and {that} he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
The LORD looketh from heaven; he beholdeth all the sons of men.
For he hath looked down from the height of his sanctuary; from heaven did the LORD behold the earth;
And God looked upon the earth, and, behold, it was corrupt; for all flesh had corrupted his way upon the earth.
For this people's heart is waxed gross, and {their} ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with {their} eyes, and hear with {their} ears, and should understand with {their} heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.
Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.
Many shall be purified, and made white, and tried; but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.
They know not, neither will they understand; they walk on in darkness: all the foundations of the earth are out of course. {out...: Heb. moved}
Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
Whoso {is} simple, let him turn in hither: and {as for} him that wanteth understanding, she saith to him,
Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where {is} thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? {the sounding: or, the multitude}
And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
For my people {is} foolish, they have not known me; they {are} sottish children, and they have none understanding: they {are} wise to do evil, but to do good they have no knowledge.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness, and judgment, and equity; {yea}, every good path.
When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, {and} set them on fire: for it {is} a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.
A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.
And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.
Whoso {is} wise, and will observe these {things}, even they shall understand the lovingkindness of the LORD.
I will go down now, and see whether they have done altogether according to the cry of it, which is come unto me; and if not, I will know.

Till the LORD look down, and behold from heaven.
Oh that thou wouldest rend the heavens, that thou wouldest come down, that the mountains might flow down at thy presence,
{That} prepareth his heart to seek God, the LORD God of his fathers, though {he be} not {cleansed} according to the purification of the sanctuary.
The humble shall see {this, and} be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. {humble: or, meek}

Every man is brutish in {his} knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image {is} falsehood, and {there is} no breath in them. {brutish in his knowledge: or, more brutish than to know}

Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide {is} the gate, and broad {is} the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: {strait: or, narrow}
I hearkened and heard, {but} they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.
Say not thou, What is {the cause} that the former days were better than these? for thou dost not enquire wisely concerning this. {wisely: Heb. out of wisdom}

And the pride of Israel testifieth to his face: and they do not return to the LORD their God, nor seek him for all this.
When God heard {this}, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat {a son} in his own likeness, after his image; and called his name Seth:
