And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou barest witness, behold, the same baptizeth, and all {men} come to him.
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

And if any man ask you, Why do ye loose {him}? thus shall ye say unto him, Because the Lord hath need of him.
And they said, The Lord hath need of him.
After these things came Jesus and his disciples into the land of Judaea; and there he tarried with them, and baptized.
Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples,
And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went thence unto a country near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with his disciples.
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
That word, {I say}, ye know, which was published throughout all Judaea, and began from Galilee, after the baptism which John preached;
Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?
God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying, {of Elias: Gr. in Elias?}
So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me. {in bitterness: Heb. bitter} {heat: Heb. hot anger}
And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
