Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
And all the people shall know, {even} Ephraim and the inhabitant of Samaria, that say in the pride and stoutness of heart,
Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one {that is} proud, and abase him.
As birds flying, so will the LORD of hosts defend Jerusalem; defending also he will deliver {it; and} passing over he will preserve it.
Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times {the things} that are not {yet} done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:
Surely the wrath of man shall praise thee: the remainder of wrath shalt thou restrain.
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thou hast lifted up thyself in height, and he hath shot up his top among the thick boughs, and his heart is lifted up in his height;
Woe to the multitude of many people, {which} make a noise like the noise of the seas; and to the rushing of nations, {that} make a rushing like the rushing of mighty waters! {multitude: or, noise} {mighty: or, many}
Then the angel of the LORD went forth, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians a hundred and fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the morning, behold, they {were} all dead corpses.

Their fruit shalt thou destroy from the earth, and their seed from among the children of men.
{There is} a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.
Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by {his} fruit.
And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of {his} anger, and {with} the flame of a devouring fire, {with} scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. {his glorious...: Heb. the glory of his voice}
Therefore shall the Lord, the Lord of hosts, send among his fat ones leanness; and under his glory he shall kindle a burning like the burning of a fire.
For the time {is come} that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if {it} first {begin} at us, what shall the end {be} of them that obey not the gospel of God?
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works {are} truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase.
By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this {is} all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up. {images: or, sun images}
The LORD of hosts hath sworn, saying, Surely as I have thought, so shall it come to pass; and as I have purposed, {so} shall it stand:
For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
To the end that none of all the trees by the waters exalt themselves for their height, neither shoot up their top among the thick boughs, neither their trees stand up in their height, all that drink water: for they are all delivered unto death, to the nether parts of the earth, in the midst of the children of men, with them that go down to the pit. {their trees...: or, stand upon themselves for their height}
Behold, all ye that kindle a fire, that compass {yourselves} about with sparks: walk in the light of your fire, and in the sparks {that} ye have kindled. This shall ye have of mine hand; ye shall lie down in sorrow.
For the LORD shall rise up as {in} mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as {in} the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
For yet a very little while, and the indignation shall cease, and mine anger in their destruction.
And the multitude of all the nations that fight against Ariel, even all that fight against her and her munition, and that distress her, shall be as a dream of a night vision.
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise {man} glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty {man} glory in his might, let not the rich {man} glory in his riches:

And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.
For thou wilt save the afflicted people; but wilt bring down high looks.
Draw out also the spear, and stop {the way} against them that persecute me: say unto my soul, I {am} thy salvation.
Let them all be confounded and turned back that hate Zion.
That I will break the Assyrian in my land, and upon my mountains tread him under foot: then shall his yoke depart from off them, and his burden depart from off their shoulders.
Woe to thee that spoilest, and thou {wast} not spoiled; and dealest treacherously, and they dealt not treacherously with thee! when thou shalt cease to spoil, thou shalt be spoiled; {and} when thou shalt make an end to deal treacherously, they shall deal treacherously with thee.
Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.
The LORD hath also a controversy with Judah, and will punish Jacob according to his ways; according to his doings will he recompense him. {punish: Heb. visit upon}
And he will stretch out his hand against the north, and destroy Assyria; and will make Nineveh a desolation, {and} dry like a wilderness.
He hath shewed strength with his arm; he hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.

Thou hast rebuked the proud {that are} cursed, which do err from thy commandments.

He that chastiseth the heathen, shall not he correct? he that teacheth man knowledge, {shall not he know}?
Lift up thyself, thou judge of the earth: render a reward to the proud.
I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went forth out of my mouth, and I shewed them; I did {them} suddenly, and they came to pass.

And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:
This shall they have for their pride, because they have reproached and magnified {themselves} against the people of the LORD of hosts.
For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, {which} smote with a rod.
Mine anger was kindled against the shepherds, and I punished the goats: for the LORD of hosts hath visited his flock the house of Judah, and hath made them as his goodly horse in the battle. {punished: Heb. visited upon}
