For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
Which {covenant} he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
The LORD of hosts hath sworn by himself, {saying}, Surely I will fill thee with men, as with caterpillers; and they shall lift up a shout against thee. {by himself: Heb. by his soul} {lift up: Heb. utter}
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, {was} not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
For I have sworn by myself, saith the LORD, that Bozrah shall become a desolation, a reproach, a waste, and a curse; and all the cities thereof shall be perpetual wastes.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth {in} righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
The Lord GOD hath sworn by himself, saith the LORD the God of hosts, I abhor the excellency of Jacob, and hate his palaces: therefore will I deliver up the city with all that is therein. {that...: Heb. the fulness thereof}
For I {am} the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws.
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten {son},
The oath which he sware to our father Abraham,
Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit {it} for ever.
Which {covenant} he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
And God said unto Balaam, Thou shalt not go with them; thou shalt not curse the people: for they {are} blessed.
And he said, Take now thy son, thine only {son} Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them. {set: Heb. given}
But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, {and} go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:
Lift up thine eyes round about, and behold: all these gather themselves together, {and} come to thee. {As} I live, saith the LORD, thou shalt surely clothe thee with them all, as with an ornament, and bind them {on thee}, as a bride {doeth}.
That I may perform the oath which I have sworn unto your fathers, to give them a land flowing with milk and honey, as {it is} this day. Then answered I, and said, So be it, O LORD. {So...: Heb. Amen}
And the angel of the LORD called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here {am} I.
The LORD God of heaven, which took me from my father's house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence.
Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
And an angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said, I made you to go up out of Egypt, and have brought you unto the land which I sware unto your fathers; and I said, I will never break my covenant with you. {angel: or, messenger}
And there shall cleave nought of the cursed thing to thine hand: that the LORD may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and shew thee mercy, and have compassion upon thee, and multiply thee, as he hath sworn unto thy fathers; {cursed: or, devoted}

And foundest his heart faithful before thee, and madest a covenant with him to give the land of the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Amorites, and the Perizzites, and the Jebusites, and the Girgashites, to give {it, I say}, to his seed, and hast performed thy words; for thou {art} righteous:
Thy bow was made quite naked, {according} to the oaths of the tribes, {even thy} word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers. {earth...: or, rivers of the earth}
And it shall be when the LORD shall bring thee into the land of the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Amorites, and the Hivites, and the Jebusites, which he sware unto thy fathers to give thee, a land flowing with milk and honey, that thou shalt keep this service in this month.
And I will bring you in unto the land, concerning the which I did swear to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it you for an heritage: I {am} the LORD. {swear: Heb. lift up my hand}
