Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak. {in bonds: or, in a chain} {therein: or, thereof}
I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, {of the Lord: or, in the Lord}
So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other {places}; {in Christ: or, for Christ} {the palace: or, Caesar's court} {in all other...: or, to all others}
But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute {you}, delivering {you} up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.
Yet for love's sake I rather beseech {thee}, being such an one as Paul the aged, and now also a prisoner of Jesus Christ.
Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace. {I have...: or, ye have me in your heart} {of my...: or, with me of grace}
Paul, a prisoner of Jesus Christ, and Timothy {our} brother, unto Philemon our dearly beloved, and fellowlabourer,
So he took him, and brought {him} to the chief captain, and said, Paul the prisoner called me unto {him}, and prayed me to bring this young man unto thee, who hath something to say unto thee.
And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men {and} brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
There salute thee Epaphras, my fellowprisoner in Christ Jesus;
Then the chief captain came near, and took him, and commanded {him} to be bound with two chains; and demanded who he was, and what he had done.
And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds.
Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence {am} base among you, but being absent am bold toward you: {in presence: or, in outward appearance}
The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak as a fool) I {am} more; in labours more abundant, in stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft.
Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: {persecuted us: or, chased us out}
Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, {even} unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.

And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.
Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast {some} of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.
Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day. {believed: or, trusted}

And say, Thus saith the king, Put this {fellow} in the prison, and feed him with bread of affliction and with water of affliction, until I come in peace.
And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying, I {am} shut up; I cannot go into the house of the LORD:
And when they had laid many stripes upon them, they cast {them} into prison, charging the jailor to keep them safely:
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver {him} into the hands of the Gentiles.

To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
For ye had compassion of me in my bonds, and took joyfully the spoiling of your goods, knowing in yourselves that ye have in heaven a better and an enduring substance. {in yourselves...: or, that ye have in or, for} yourselves}
And others had trial of {cruel} mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
