If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:)

And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.
And he said to David, Thou {art} more righteous than I: for thou hast rewarded me good, whereas I have rewarded thee evil.
He hath put forth his hands against such as be at peace with him: he hath broken his covenant. {broken: Heb. profaned}
And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works {have been} to thee-ward very good:
And David fled from Naioth in Ramah, and came and said before Jonathan, What have I done? what {is} mine iniquity? and what {is} my sin before thy father, that he seeketh my life?
{And} when they were gone out of the city, {and} not {yet} far off, Joseph said unto his steward, Up, follow after the men; and when thou dost overtake them, say unto them, Wherefore have ye rewarded evil for good?
Shall evil be recompensed for good? for they have digged a pit for my soul. Remember that I stood before thee to speak good for them, {and} to turn away thy wrath from them.
And David said to Abishai, Destroy him not: for who can stretch forth his hand against the LORD'S anointed, and be guiltless?
And, behold, as thy life was much set by this day in mine eyes, so let my life be much set by in the eyes of the LORD, and let him deliver me out of all tribulation.
I pray thee, forgive the trespass of thine handmaid: for the LORD will certainly make my lord a sure house; because my lord fighteth the battles of the LORD, and evil hath not been found in thee {all} thy days.
Behold, this day thine eyes have seen how that the LORD had delivered thee to day into mine hand in the cave: and {some} bade {me} kill thee: but {mine eye} spared thee; and I said, I will not put forth mine hand against my lord; for he {is} the LORD'S anointed.
So David stayed his servants with these words, and suffered them not to rise against Saul. But Saul rose up out of the cave, and went on {his} way. {stayed: Heb. cut off}
Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who {is so} faithful among all thy servants as David, which is the king's son in law, and goeth at thy bidding, and is honourable in thine house?
The fining pot {is} for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
Then said Saul, I have sinned: return, my son David: for I will no more do thee harm, because my soul was precious in thine eyes this day: behold, I have played the fool, and have erred exceedingly.
Yea, let none that wait on thee be ashamed: let them be ashamed which transgress without cause.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited {me} in the night; thou hast tried me, {and} shalt find nothing; I am purposed {that} my mouth shall not transgress.
See that none render evil for evil unto any {man}; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all {men}.
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,

They also that render evil for good are mine adversaries; because I follow {the thing that} good {is}.

And this water that causeth the curse shall go into thy bowels, to make {thy} belly to swell, and {thy} thigh to rot: And the woman shall say, Amen, amen.
But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. {Raca: that is, Vain fellow}
Behold, {I say, how} they reward us, to come to cast us out of thy possession, which thou hast given us to inherit.
But {this cometh to pass}, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.
But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we are all here.
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, {having} sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Therefore thou shalt deal kindly with thy servant; for thou hast brought thy servant into a covenant of the LORD with thee: notwithstanding, if there be in me iniquity, slay me thyself; for why shouldest thou bring me to thy father?
{Then} let mine arm fall from my shoulder blade, and mine arm be broken from the bone. {bone: or, chanelbone}
