But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, {love: or, pity}
One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts.
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

Howbeit thou {art} just in all that is brought upon us; for thou hast done right, but we have done wickedly:

For thou, Lord, {art} good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us {our} sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, {and} for thy truth's sake.
To the Lord our God {belong} mercies and forgivenesses, though we have rebelled against him;
Tell ye, and bring {them} near; yea, let them take counsel together: who hath declared this from ancient time? {who} hath told it from that time? {have} not I the LORD? and {there is} no God else beside me; a just God and a Saviour; {there is} none beside me.
Nevertheless for thy great mercies' sake thou didst not utterly consume them, nor forsake them; for thou {art} a gracious and merciful God.
