The fining pot {is} for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD trieth the hearts.
And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It {is} my people: and they shall say, The LORD {is} my God.
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
And he shall sit {as} a refiner and purifier of silver: and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver, that they may offer unto the LORD an offering in righteousness.

Wherefore when Saul saw that he behaved himself very wisely, he was afraid of him.
The words of the LORD {are} pure words: {as} silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
And on this manner did Absalom to all Israel that came to the king for judgment: so Absalom stole the hearts of the men of Israel.
Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:

And blessed {be} thy advice, and blessed {be} thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to {shed} blood, and from avenging myself with mine own hand.

Surely there is a vein for the silver, and a place for gold {where} they fine {it}. {vein: or, mine}
