Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give {also} unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

For Moses had given the inheritance of two tribes and an half tribe on the other side Jordan: but unto the Levites he gave none inheritance among them.
And by the border of Judah, from the east side unto the west side, shall be the offering which ye shall offer of five and twenty thousand {reeds in} breadth, and {in} length as one of the {other} parts, from the east side unto the west side: and the sanctuary shall be in the midst of it.
Moreover, when ye shall divide by lot the land for inheritance, ye shall offer an oblation unto the LORD, an holy portion of the land: the length {shall be} the length of five and twenty thousand {reeds}, and the breadth {shall be} ten thousand. Or saith he {it} altogether for our sakes? For our sakes, no doubt, {this} is written: that he that ploweth should plow in hope; and that he that thresheth in hope should be partaker of his hope.
Notwithstanding the cities of the Levites, {and} the houses of the cities of their possession, may the Levites redeem at any time.
And they spake unto them at Shiloh in the land of Canaan, saying, The LORD commanded by the hand of Moses to give us cities to dwell in, with the suburbs thereof for our cattle.
Moreover from the possession of the Levites, and from the possession of the city, {being} in the midst {of that} which is the prince's, between the border of Judah and the border of Benjamin, shall be for the prince.
And those that were numbered of them were twenty and three thousand, all males from a month old and upward: for they were not numbered among the children of Israel, because there was no inheritance given them among the children of Israel.
And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose;
For the Levites left their suburbs and their possession, and came to Judah and Jerusalem: for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from executing the priest's office unto the LORD:
Also of the sons of Aaron the priests, {which were} in the fields of the suburbs of their cities, in every several city, the men that were expressed by name, to give portions to all the males among the priests, and to all that were reckoned by genealogies among the Levites.

And I perceived that the portions of the Levites had not been given {them}: for the Levites and the singers, that did the work, were fled every one to his field.
Behold, Hanameel the son of Shallum thine uncle shall come unto thee, saying, Buy thee my field that {is} in Anathoth: for the right of redemption {is} thine to buy {it}.
And these {are} they that were numbered of the Levites after their families: of Gershon, the family of the Gershonites: of Kohath, the family of the Kohathites: of Merari, the family of the Merarites.
Bless, LORD, his substance, and accept the work of his hands: smite through the loins of them that rise against him, and of them that hate him, that they rise not again.
For the children of Joseph were two tribes, Manasseh and Ephraim: therefore they gave no part unto the Levites in the land, save cities to dwell {in}, with their suburbs for their cattle and for their substance.
