The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests that {were} in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin:
Therefore thus saith the LORD of the men of Anathoth, that seek thy life, saying, Prophesy not in the name of the LORD, that thou die not by our hand:
If thy brother be waxen poor, and hath sold away {some} of his possession, and if any of his kin come to redeem it, then shall he redeem that which his brother sold.
The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land {is} mine; for ye {are} strangers and sojourners with me. {for ever: or, to be quite cut off: Heb. for cutting off}
Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give {also} unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.
But the field of the suburbs of their cities may not be sold; for it {is} their perpetual possession.

So Hanameel mine uncle's son came to me in the court of the prison according to the word of the LORD, and said unto me, Buy my field, I pray thee, that {is} in Anathoth, which {is} in the country of Benjamin: for the right of inheritance {is} thine, and the redemption {is} thine; buy {it} for thyself. Then I knew that this {was} the word of the LORD.
Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
The time is come, the day draweth near: let not the buyer rejoice, nor the seller mourn: for wrath {is} upon all the multitude thereof.

Nay, my lord, hear me: the field give I thee, and the cave that {is} therein, I give it thee; in the presence of the sons of my people give I it thee: bury thy dead.
And the field of Ephron, which {was} in Machpelah, which {was} before Mamre, the field, and the cave which {was} therein, and all the trees that {were} in the field, that {were} in all the borders round about, were made sure
