When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death:

And straightway in the morning the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole council, and bound Jesus, and carried {him} away, and delivered {him} to Pilate.
Then led they Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment: and it was early; and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled; but that they might eat the passover. {the hall...: or, Pilate's house}
Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practise it, because it is in the power of their hand.
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, {saying},
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in {yourselves}, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Then assembled together the chief priests, and the scribes, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,
And when they heard {that}, they entered into the temple early in the morning, and taught. But the high priest came, and they that were with him, and called the council together, and all the senate of the children of Israel, and sent to the prison to have them brought.
For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause {some} to fall.
Saul also sent messengers unto David's house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal David's wife told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to night, to morrow thou shalt be slain.
And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.
{And it was told} the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed {him} in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him. {quiet: Heb. silence}
And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou {art} God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

For I have heard the slander of many: fear {was} on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood.
Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death,
And as soon as it was day, the elders of the people and the chief priests and the scribes came together, and led him into their council, saying,

And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers,

And when they saw him afar off, even before he came near unto them, they conspired against him to slay him.
O God, the proud are risen against me, and the assemblies of violent {men} have sought after my soul; and have not set thee before them. {violent: Heb. terrible}

Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, Thus saith the Holy Ghost, So shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver {him} into the hands of the Gentiles.

And Absalom rose up early, and stood beside the way of the gate: and it was {so}, that when any man that had a controversy came to the king for judgment, then Absalom called unto him, and said, Of what city {art} thou? And he said, Thy servant {is} of one of the tribes of Israel. {came: Heb. to come}
Then said Absalom to Ahithophel, Give counsel among you what we shall do.
And the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest, and the priests of the second order, and the keepers of the door, to bring forth out of the temple of the LORD all the vessels that were made for Baal, and for the grove, and for all the host of heaven: and he burned them without Jerusalem in the fields of Kidron, and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel.
Thus were they divided by lot, one sort with another; for the governors of the sanctuary, and governors {of the house} of God, were of the sons of Eleazar, and of the sons of Ithamar.
Let them be confounded and put to shame that seek after my soul: let them be turned back and brought to confusion that devise my hurt.
They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
They only consult to cast {him} down from his excellency: they delight in lies: they bless with their mouth, but they curse inwardly. Selah. {inwardly: Heb. in their inward parts}
For mine enemies speak against me; and they that lay wait for my soul take counsel together, {lay...: Heb. watch, or, observe}
Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. {wrong: or, wrested}
Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him. {held...: or, took counsel}
And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David; they were sore displeased,
But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to death, and have crucified him.
And as they spake unto the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees, came upon them, {captain: or, ruler}
And it came to pass on the morrow, that their rulers, and elders, and scribes,
And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born.
Thus saith the LORD, Go and get a potter's earthen bottle, and {take} of the ancients of the people, and of the ancients of the priests;
