At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes.
Hear now this, O foolish people, and without understanding; which have eyes, and see not; which have ears, and hear not: {understanding: Heb. heart}
They have not known nor understood: for he hath shut their eyes, that they cannot see; {and} their hearts, that they cannot understand. {shut: Heb. daubed}
He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
{Even} the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed {it} unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
The secret of the LORD {is} with them that fear him; and he will shew them his covenant. {and...: or, and his covenant to make them know it}
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded {blinded: or, hardened}
Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with {their} eyes, nor understand with {their} heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace {that should come} unto you:
But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, {even} the hidden {wisdom}, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, {even} a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise {men} shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent {men} shall be hid. {proceed: Heb. add}
But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, {afore...: or, a little before}

And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive:
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with {their} eyes, nor understand with {their} heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
(According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. {slumber: or, remorse}
That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and {their} sins should be forgiven them.

Saying, Go unto this people, and say, Hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive:
Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they {are} a rebellious house.
What I tell you in darkness, {that} speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, {that} preach ye upon the housetops.
And he spake many things unto them in parables, saying, Behold, a sower went forth to sow;
Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
And utter a parable unto the rebellious house, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Set on a pot, set {it} on, and also pour water into it:
The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
And the people, when they knew {it}, followed him: and he received them, and spake unto them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.
And he began to speak unto them by parables. A {certain} man planted a vineyard, and set an hedge about {it}, and digged {a place for} the winefat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country.
Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
