And he burnt the house of the LORD, and the king's house, and all the houses of Jerusalem, and every great {man's} house burnt he with fire.

All thy lovers have forgotten thee; they seek thee not; for I have wounded thee with the wound of an enemy, with the chastisement of a cruel one, for the multitude of thine iniquity; {because} thy sins were increased.

Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and holdest me for thine enemy?

Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the LORD is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?

I {am one of them that are} peaceable {and} faithful in Israel: thou seekest to destroy a city and a mother in Israel: why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?

He hath destroyed me on every side, and I am gone: and mine hope hath he removed like a tree.

I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; {and that} with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I, even I, {am} against thee, and will execute judgments in the midst of thee in the sight of the nations.

Therefore prophesy and say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because they have made {you} desolate, and swallowed you up on every side, that ye might be a possession unto the residue of the heathen, and ye are taken up in the lips of talkers, and {are} an infamy of the people: {Because: Heb. Israel is swallowed up: now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein {is} no pleasure.

Whose harvest the hungry eateth up, and taketh it even out of the thorns, and the robber swalloweth up their substance.
