And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
These {words} spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
Hear the word of the LORD, ye that tremble at his word; Your brethren that hated you, that cast you out for my name's sake, said, Let the LORD be glorified: but he shall appear to your joy, and they shall be ashamed.
And they said, Stand back. And they said {again}, This one {fellow} came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, {even} Lot, and came near to break the door.
Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me. {conceive...: Heb. warm me}
How then can man be justified with God? or how can he be clean {that is} born of a woman?
Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all {of you} be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.

I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.

But them that are without God judgeth. Therefore put away from among yourselves that wicked person.

Ye do the deeds of your father. Then said they to him, We be not born of fornication; we have one Father, {even} God.

Nevertheless among the chief rulers also many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess {him}, lest they should be put out of the synagogue:

The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness,
If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy {are ye}; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.

And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: {that...: or, as being righteous}
They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.
Wherefore, if I come, I will remember his deeds which he doeth, prating against us with malicious words: and not content therewith, neither doth he himself receive the brethren, and forbiddeth them that would, and casteth {them} out of the church.
If indeed ye will magnify {yourselves} against me, and plead against me my reproach:
But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in {yourselves}, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Howbeit no man spake openly of him for fear of the Jews.
They answered and said unto him, Art thou also of Galilee? Search, and look: for out of Galilee ariseth no prophet.
Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
And {some} of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
I would they were even cut off which trouble you.
And that whosoever would not come within three days, according to the counsel of the princes and the elders, all his substance should be forfeited, and himself separated from the congregation of those that had been carried away. {forfeited: Heb. devoted}

When Jesus heard {it}, he saith unto them, They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
