Thou shalt not revile the gods, nor curse the ruler of thy people. {gods: or, judges}
Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute {is due}; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Also to punish the just {is} not good, {nor} to strike princes for equity.
Likewise also these {filthy} dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and speak evil of dignities.
Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is written, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
Then said Paul unto him, God shall smite thee, {thou} whited wall: for sittest thou to judge me after the law, and commandest me to be smitten contrary to the law?
But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise government. Presumptuous {are they}, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities. {government: or, dominion}
Honour all {men}. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king. {Honour all: or, Esteem all}
For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of {them} whose heart {is} perfect toward him. Herein thou hast done foolishly: therefore from henceforth thou shalt have wars. {to shew...: or, strongly to hold with them, etc}

What shall we say then? {Is there} unrighteousness with God? God forbid.
Where the word of a king {is, there is} power: and who may say unto him, What doest thou?
Who {is} wise, and he shall understand these {things}? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD {are} right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.
{Is it} good unto thee that thou shouldest oppress, that thou shouldest despise the work of thine hands, and shine upon the counsel of the wicked? {work: Heb. labour}
In that thou lovest thine enemies, and hatest thy friends. For thou hast declared this day, that thou regardest neither princes nor servants: for this day I perceive, that if Absalom had lived, and all we had died this day, then it had pleased thee well. {in...: Heb. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly. {charged...: or, attributed folly to God}
And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever.
