Thou daughter that dost inhabit Dibon, come down from {thy} glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab shall come upon thee, {and} he shall destroy thy strong holds.

Come down, and sit in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit on the ground: {there is} no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more be called tender and delicate.

And he was sore athirst, and called on the LORD, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised?
And now she {is} planted in the wilderness, in a dry and thirsty ground.
{As} I live, saith the King, whose name {is} the LORD of hosts, Surely as Tabor {is} among the mountains, and as Carmel by the sea, {so} shall he come.
Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because {they have} no knowledge: and their honourable men {are} famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst. {honourable...: Heb. glory are men of famine}
And the people thirsted there for water; and the people murmured against Moses, and said, Wherefore {is} this {that} thou hast brought us up out of Egypt, to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?
And she went, and sat her down over against {him} a good way off, as it were a bowshot: for she said, Let me not see the death of the child. And she sat over against {him}, and lift up her voice, and wept.

And they utterly destroyed all that {was} in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.
In that day shall the fair virgins and young men faint for thirst.

O vine of Sibmah, I will weep for thee with the weeping of Jazer: thy plants are gone over the sea, they reach {even} to the sea of Jazer: the spoiler is fallen upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage.
But when his heart was lifted up, and his mind hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him: {in pride: or, to deal proudly} {deposed: Chaldee, made to come down}
And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape: the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed, as the LORD hath spoken.
Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land. {extortioner: Heb. wringer} {the oppressors: Heb. the treaders down}
And they removed from Dibongad, and encamped in Almondiblathaim.
