I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,

Notwithstanding no devoted thing, that a man shall devote unto the LORD of all that he hath, {both} of man and beast, and of the field of his possession, shall be sold or redeemed: every devoted thing {is} most holy unto the LORD.

And the men of Israel were distressed that day: for Saul had adjured the people, saying, Cursed {be} the man that eateth {any} food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted {any} food.

Therefore also I have lent him to the LORD; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the LORD. And he worshipped the LORD there. {lent him: or, returned him, whom I have obtained by petition} {he shall...: or, he whom I have obtained by petition shall be returned}

Thou shalt not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD thy God for any vow: for even both these {are} abomination unto the LORD thy God.

But Samuel ministered before the LORD, {being} a child, girded with a linen ephod.

And if {it be} any unclean beast, of which they do not offer a sacrifice unto the LORD, then he shall present the beast before the priest:

And she vowed a vow, and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child, then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and there shall no razor come upon his head. {a man...: Heb. seed of men}

He that killeth an ox {is as if} he slew a man; he that sacrificeth a lamb, {as if} he cut off a dog's neck; he that offereth an oblation, {as if he offered} swine's blood; he that burneth incense, {as if} he blessed an idol. Yea, they have chosen their own ways, and their soul delighteth in their abominations. {lamb: or, kid} {burneth: Heb. maketh a memorial of}

And Saul answered, God do so and more also: for thou shalt surely die, Jonathan.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When a man shall make a singular vow, the persons {shall be} for the LORD by thy estimation.

So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

Then he took his eldest son that should have reigned in his stead, and offered him {for} a burnt offering upon the wall. And there was great indignation against Israel: and they departed from him, and returned to {their own} land.

Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with {his} lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever {it be} that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth {of it}, then he shall be guilty in one of these.

And it came to pass at the end of two months, that she returned unto her father, who did with her {according} to his vow which he had vowed: and she knew no man. And it was a custom in Israel, {custom: or, ordinance}

And he said, Take now thy son, thine only {son} Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, {or} with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn {for} my transgression, the fruit of my body {for} the sin of my soul? {body: Heb. belly}
