For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance {for} clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, and faithfulness the girdle of his reins.
For we know him that hath said, Vengeance {belongeth} unto me, I will recompense, saith the Lord. And again, The Lord shall judge his people.

Of the increase of {his} government and peace {there shall be} no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.
By the word of truth, by the power of God, by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left,
For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me.
To me {belongeth} vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in {due} time: for the day of their calamity {is} at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people {there was} none with me: for I will tread them in mine anger, and trample them in my fury; and their blood shall be sprinkled upon my garments, and I will stain all my raiment.
Look down from heaven, and behold from the habitation of thy holiness and of thy glory: where {is} thy zeal and thy strength, the sounding of thy bowels and of thy mercies toward me? are they restrained? {the sounding: or, the multitude}
In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: {taking: or, yielding}

Then the spirit came upon Amasai, {who was} chief of the captains, {and he said}, Thine {are we}, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace {be} unto thee, and peace {be} to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Deck thyself now {with} majesty and excellency; and array thyself with glory and beauty.

For out of Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this. {they...: Heb. the escaping}
Thus shall mine anger be accomplished, and I will cause my fury to rest upon them, and I will be comforted: and they shall know that I the LORD have spoken {it} in my zeal, when I have accomplished my fury in them.

According to their uncleanness and according to their transgressions have I done unto them, and hid my face from them.

But {it is} good to be zealously affected always in {a} good {thing}, and not only when I am present with you.
And I will kindle a fire in the houses of the gods of Egypt; and he shall burn them, and carry them away captives: and he shall array himself with the land of Egypt, as a shepherd putteth on his garment; and he shall go forth from thence in peace.
