For Jacob my servant's sake, and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

But thou, Israel, {art} my servant, Jacob whom I have chosen, the seed of Abraham my friend.
Yet now hear, O Jacob my servant; and Israel, whom I have chosen:
What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded {blinded: or, hardened}
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you. {devotions: or, gods that ye worship}
Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth {is} mine:
And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.
Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.
And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Thus saith the LORD, your redeemer, the Holy One of Israel; For your sake I have sent to Babylon, and have brought down all their nobles, and the Chaldeans, whose cry {is} in the ships. {nobles: Heb. bars}
Israel {is} a scattered sheep; the lions have driven {him} away: first the king of Assyria hath devoured him; and last this Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon hath broken his bones.
Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they {are} not all Israel, which are of Israel:
That saith of Cyrus, {He is} my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure: even saying to Jerusalem, Thou shalt be built; and to the temple, Thy foundation shall be laid.
That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:
Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
For I {am} the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt {for} thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.
Pour out thy wrath upon the heathen that have not known thee, and upon the kingdoms that have not called upon thy name.
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
But as for me, this secret is not revealed to me for {any} wisdom that I have more than any living, but for {their} sakes that shall make known the interpretation to the king, and that thou mightest know the thoughts of thy heart. {but for...: or, but for the intent that the interpretation may be made known to the king}
He saw in a vision evidently about the ninth hour of the day an angel of God coming in to him, and saying unto him, Cornelius.
I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, {even} them that rejoice in my highness.
