In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. {windows: or, floodgates}

The fountains also of the deep and the windows of heaven were stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained;
When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that {there shall} not {be room} enough {to receive it}. {pour...: Heb. empty out}
And the Lord GOD of hosts {is} he that toucheth the land, and it shall melt, and all that dwell therein shall mourn: and it shall rise up wholly like a flood; and shall be drowned, as {by} the flood of Egypt.
Fear ye not me? saith the LORD: will ye not tremble at my presence, which have placed the sand {for} the bound of the sea by a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass it: and though the waves thereof toss themselves, yet can they not prevail; though they roar, yet can they not pass over it?
And that lord answered the man of God, and said, Now, behold, {if} the LORD should make windows in heaven, might such a thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof.
Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
When he uttereth {his} voice, {there is} a multitude of waters in the heavens; and he causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth: he maketh lightnings with rain, and bringeth forth the wind out of his treasures. {multitude: or, noise}
He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.
Or {who} shut up the sea with doors, when it brake forth, {as if} it had issued out of the womb?
Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, {if} the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see {it} with thine eyes, but shalt not eat thereof. {a lord...: Heb. a lord which belonged to the king leaning upon his hand}
And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which {were} under the firmament from the waters which {were} above the firmament: and it was so.
For thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall make thee a desolate city, like the cities that are not inhabited; when I shall bring up the deep upon thee, and great waters shall cover thee;
And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein {is} the breath of life, from under heaven; {and} every thing that {is} in the earth shall die.
The earth is utterly broken down, the earth is clean dissolved, the earth is moved exceedingly.
Thou didst cleave the fountain and the flood: thou driedst up mighty rivers. {mighty...: Heb. rivers of strength}
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
The flood breaketh out from the inhabitant; {even the waters} forgotten of the foot: they are dried up, they are gone away from men.
For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.

And it shall come to pass, {that} he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake.
Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; {midst...: Heb. heart of the seas}
By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew.

And it came to pass in the six hundredth and first year, in the first {month}, the first {day} of the month, the waters were dried up from off the earth: and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and, behold, the face of the ground was dry.
{Seek him} that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shadow of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: The LORD {is} his name:
And the waters returned from off the earth continually: and after the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters were abated. {continually: Heb. in going and returning}
Behold, he withholdeth the waters, and they dry up: also he sendeth them out, and they overturn the earth.
Praise him, ye heavens of heavens, and ye waters that {be} above the heavens.
Which the clouds do drop {and} distil upon man abundantly.
And in the second month, on the seven and twentieth day of the month, was the earth dried.
And the waters decreased continually until the tenth month: in the tenth {month}, on the first {day} of the month, were the tops of the mountains seen. {decreased...: Heb. were in going and decreasing}
