(Beforetime in Israel, when a man went to enquire of God, thus he spake, Come, and let us go to the seer: for {he that is} now {called} a Prophet was beforetime called a Seer.)

For when David was up in the morning, the word of the LORD came unto the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
And the children struggled together within her; and she said, If {it be} so, why {am} I thus? And she went to enquire of the LORD.
For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered. {rulers: Heb. heads}
Now after the death of Joshua it came to pass, that the children of Israel asked the LORD, saying, Who shall go up for us against the Canaanites first, to fight against them?
All these {which were} chosen to be porters in the gates {were} two hundred and twelve. These were reckoned by their genealogy in their villages, whom David and Samuel the seer did ordain in their set office. {did...: Heb. founded} {set...: or, trust}
Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for {he was} in a rage with him because of this {thing}. And Asa oppressed {some} of the people the same time. {oppressed: Heb. crushed}

And he said, I saw all Israel scattered upon the hills, as sheep that have not a shepherd: and the LORD said, These have no master: let them return every man to his house in peace.
Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the LORD God of Israel, behold, they {are written} in the book of the kings of Israel.
Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for {there is} no answer of God. {lips: Heb. upper lip}
If the whole body {were} an eye, where {were} the hearing? If the whole {were} hearing, where {were} the smelling?
