The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.
Bel boweth down, Nebo stoopeth, their idols were upon the beasts, and upon the cattle: your carriages {were} heavy loaden; {they are} a burden to the weary {beast}.
They bear him upon the shoulder, they carry him, and set him in his place, and he standeth; from his place shall he not remove: yea, {one} shall cry unto him, yet can he not answer, nor save him out of his trouble.
And unclean spirits, when they saw him, fell down before him, and cried, saying, Thou art the Son of God.
The LORD {will be} terrible unto them: for he will famish all the gods of the earth; and {men} shall worship him, every one from his place, {even} all the isles of the heathen. {famish: Heb. make lean}
And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
But they are altogether brutish and foolish: the stock {is} a doctrine of vanities. {altogether: Heb. in one, or, at once}
He that {is} so impoverished that he hath no oblation chooseth a tree {that} will not rot; he seeketh unto him a cunning workman to prepare a graven image, {that} shall not be moved. {is so...: Heb. is poor of oblation}
And the residue thereof he maketh a god, {even} his graven image: he falleth down unto it, and worshippeth {it}, and prayeth unto it, and saith, Deliver me; for thou {art} my god.
Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all {ye} gods.
So the carpenter encouraged the goldsmith, {and} he that smootheth {with} the hammer him that smote the anvil, saying, It {is} ready for the sodering: and he fastened it with nails, {that} it should not be moved. {goldsmith: or, founder} {him...: or, the smiting} {saying...: or, saying of the soder, It is good}

Behold, all his fellows shall be ashamed: and the workmen, they {are} of men: let them all be gathered together, let them stand up; {yet} they shall fear, {and} they shall be ashamed together.
And when they heard {these sayings}, they were full of wrath, and cried out, saying, Great {is} Diana of the Ephesians.
And when the men of Ashdod saw that {it was} so, they said, The ark of the God of Israel shall not abide with us: for his hand is sore upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
Then said Samuel to the people, Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there.
