And David said, Solomon my son {is} young and tender, and the house {that is} to be builded for the LORD {must be} exceeding magnifical, of fame and of glory throughout all countries: I will {therefore} now make preparation for it. So David prepared abundantly before his death.

Furthermore David the king said unto all the congregation, Solomon my son, whom alone God hath chosen, {is yet} young and tender, and the work {is} great: for the palace {is} not for man, but for the LORD God.
And now, O LORD my God, thou hast made thy servant king instead of David my father: and I {am but} a little child: I know not {how} to go out or come in.
Now before the feast of the passover, when Jesus knew that his hour was come that he should depart out of this world unto the Father, having loved his own which were in the world, he loved them unto the end.
He must increase, but I {must} decrease.
And as some spake of the temple, how it was adorned with goodly stones and gifts, he said,
As for the beauty of his ornament, he set it in majesty: but they made the images of their abominations {and} of their detestable things therein: therefore have I set it far from them. {set it far...: or, made it unto them an unclean thing}
Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting {you} in remembrance;
I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
Who {is} left among you that saw this house in her first glory? and how do ye see it now? {is it} not in your eyes in comparison of it as nothing?
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.
And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house?
The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts.
But many of the priests and Levites and chief of the fathers, {who were} ancient men, that had seen the first house, when the foundation of this house was laid before their eyes, wept with a loud voice; and many shouted aloud for joy:
And he said unto them, I {am} an hundred and twenty years old this day; I can no more go out and come in: also the LORD hath said unto me, Thou shalt not go over this Jordan.
And there are gathered unto him vain men, the children of Belial, and have strengthened themselves against Rehoboam the son of Solomon, when Rehoboam was young and tenderhearted, and could not withstand them.
And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
And the house which I build {is} great: for great {is} our God above all gods.
And at this house, {which} is high, every one that passeth by it shall be astonished, and shall hiss; and they shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and to this house?
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do {it} with thy might; for {there is} no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.
For I was my father's son, tender and only {beloved} in the sight of my mother.

And he said unto him, My lord knoweth that the children {are} tender, and the flocks and herds with young {are} with me: and if men should overdrive them one day, all the flock will die.
So the workmen wrought, and the work was perfected by them, and they set the house of God in his state, and strengthened it. {the work...: Heb. the healing went up upon the work}
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
And I {am} this day weak, though anointed king; and these men the sons of Zeruiah {be} too hard for me: the LORD shall reward the doer of evil according to his wickedness. {weak: Heb. tender}
