And again the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel, and he moved David against them to say, Go, number Israel and Judah.
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. {Satan: that is, an adversary} {to...: Heb. to be his adversary}
And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life.
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD.
And the LORD said, Who shall persuade Ahab, that he may go up and fall at Ramothgilead? And one said on this manner, and another said on that manner. {persuade: or, deceive}
And as he said these things unto them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to urge {him} vehemently, and to provoke him to speak of many things:
And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's {son}, to betray him;

And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works:
But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back {part} of the price of the land? {to lie to: or, to deceive}
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired {to have} you, that he may sift {you} as wheat:
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: {evil: or, evils}

Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Ye are of {your} father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. All these {were} the children of Asher, heads of {their} father's house, choice {and} mighty men of valour, chief of the princes. And the number throughout the genealogy of them that were apt to the war {and} to battle {was} twenty and six thousand men.
