For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.
And in this {place} again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where {is} the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk {therein}.
Come unto me, all {ye} that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
And the LORD heard the voice of your words, and was wroth, and sware, saying,
For ye are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God giveth you.
And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed {are} the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them. {from henceforth...: or, from henceforth saith the Spirit, Yea}
Say unto them, {As truly as} I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you:
And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people {are} as they that strive with the priest.

And he said, My presence shall go {with thee}, and I will give thee rest.

Yet also I lifted up my hand unto them in the wilderness, that I would not bring them into the land which I had given {them}, flowing with milk and honey, which {is} the glory of all lands;
Arise ye, and depart; for this {is} not {your} rest: because it is polluted, it shall destroy {you}, even with a sore destruction.
Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: {to overthrow: Heb. to make them fall}
Thus saith the LORD, The people {which were} left of the sword found grace in the wilderness; {even} Israel, when I went to cause him to rest.
And I will purge out from among you the rebels, and them that transgress against me: I will bring them forth out of the country where they sojourn, and they shall not enter into the land of Israel: and ye shall know that I {am} the LORD.
And the space in which we came from Kadeshbarnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, {was} thirty and eight years; until all the generation of the men of war were wasted out from among the host, as the LORD sware unto them. {brook: or, valley}
Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.

And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.

And they departed from the mount of the LORD three days' journey: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD went before them in the three days' journey, to search out a resting place for them.
Surely there shall not one of these men of this evil generation see that good land, which I sware to give unto your fathers,
And the LORD'S anger was kindled the same time, and he sware, saying,
But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.
Wherefore, {as} I live, saith the Lord GOD; Surely, because thou hast defiled my sanctuary with all thy detestable things, and with all thine abominations, therefore will I also diminish {thee}; neither shall mine eye spare, neither will I have any pity.
