Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, {so is} thy wrath.

Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him. {abide: Heb. stand up}
Then will I also walk contrary unto you, and will punish you yet seven times for your sins.
The sinners in Zion are afraid; fearfulness hath surprised the hypocrites. Who among us shall dwell with the devouring fire? who among us shall dwell with everlasting burnings?
For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?
And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.
Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.
The LORD will not spare him, but then the anger of the LORD and his jealousy shall smoke against that man, and all the curses that are written in this book shall lie upon him, and the LORD shall blot out his name from under heaven.
And if ye walk contrary unto me, and will not hearken unto me; I will bring seven times more plagues upon you according to your sins. {contrary...: or, at all adventures with me}
Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, {even} great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will chastise you seven times for your sins.
But I will forewarn you whom ye shall fear: Fear him, which after he hath killed hath power to cast into hell; yea, I say unto you, Fear him.
Thou, {even} thou, {art} to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
Who {is} like unto thee, O LORD, among the gods? who {is} like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful {in} praises, doing wonders? {gods: or, mighty ones?}
For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God {is} upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath {is} against all them that forsake him.
{It is} a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
{What} if God, willing to shew {his} wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction: {fitted: or, made up}
And my wrath shall wax hot, and I will kill you with the sword; and your wives shall be widows, and your children fatherless.
For their calamity shall rise suddenly; and who knoweth the ruin of them both?
Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty.
But the LORD {is} the true God, he {is} the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. {true...: Heb. God of truth} {living God: Heb. living Gods} {everlasting...: Heb. king of eternity}
And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Then my anger shall be kindled against them in that day, and I will forsake them, and I will hide my face from them, and they shall be devoured, and many evils and troubles shall befall them; so that they will say in that day, Are not these evils come upon us, because our God {is} not among us? {befall: Heb. find}

But David could not go before it to enquire of God: for he was afraid because of the sword of the angel of the LORD.
And Israel joined himself unto Baalpeor: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against Israel.
Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me:
Thou, {even} thou, {art} to be feared: and who may stand in thy sight when once thou art angry?
Thy fierce wrath goeth over me; thy terrors have cut me off.
