Surely men of low degree {are} vanity, {and} men of high degree {are} a lie: to be laid in the balance, they {are} altogether {lighter} than vanity. {altogether: or, alike}
{How much less to him} that accepteth not the persons of princes, nor regardeth the rich more than the poor? for they all {are} the work of his hands.
My brethren, have not the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, {the Lord} of glory, with respect of persons.
The rich and poor meet together: the LORD {is} the maker of them all.
The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
Therefore I said, Surely these {are} poor; they are foolish: for they know not the way of the LORD, {nor} the judgment of their God.
Let the brother of low degree rejoice in that he is exalted: {rejoice: or, glory}
And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains;
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: {to receive: Gr. to give them}
The small and great are there; and the servant {is} free from his master.
And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.
When I have bent Judah for me, filled the bow with Ephraim, and raised up thy sons, O Zion, against thy sons, O Greece, and made thee as the sword of a mighty man.
