[{A Psalm} of David.] Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity.

For I was envious at the foolish, {when} I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told {you} in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
Do ye think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? {to envy: or, enviously?}
And her adversary also provoked her sore, for to make her fret, because the LORD had shut up her womb. {provoked: Heb. angered}
The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.
When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; {it is} that they shall be destroyed for ever:
Envy thou not the oppressor, and choose none of his ways. {the oppressor: Heb. a man of violence}
Righteous {art} thou, O LORD, when I plead with thee: yet let me talk with thee of {thy} judgments: Wherefore doth the way of the wicked prosper? {wherefore} are all they happy that deal very treacherously? {talk...: or, reason the case with thee}

Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
Let not thine heart envy sinners: but {be thou} in the fear of the LORD all the day long.
Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee; for unto thee, and unto thy seed, I will give all these countries, and I will perform the oath which I sware unto Abraham thy father;
Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;
The tabernacles of robbers prosper, and they that provoke God are secure; into whose hand God bringeth {abundantly}.

And he appointed {certain} of the Levites to minister before the ark of the LORD, and to record, and to thank and praise the LORD God of Israel:
Thus my heart was grieved, and I was pricked in my reins.
