By thee have I been holden up from the womb: thou art he that took me out of my mother's bowels: my praise {shall be} continually of thee.
Listen, O isles, unto me; and hearken, ye people, from far; The LORD hath called me from the womb; from the bowels of my mother hath he made mention of my name.

Why died I not from the womb? {why} did I {not} give up the ghost when I came out of the belly?
And Elkanah her husband said unto her, Do what seemeth thee good; tarry until thou have weaned him; only the LORD establish his word. So the woman abode, and gave her son suck until she weaned him.
