But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble.
Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all {of you} be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.
Though the LORD {be} high, yet hath he respect unto the lowly: but the proud he knoweth afar off.
If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but {if} thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear {it}.
Proud {and} haughty scorner {is} his name, who dealeth in proud wrath. {in proud...: Heb. in the wrath of pride}
For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name {is} Holy; I dwell in the high and holy {place}, with him also {that is} of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.
He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked {man getteth} himself a blot.
