Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
My fruit {is} better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver.
For wisdom {is} a defence, {and} money {is} a defence: but the excellency of knowledge {is, that} wisdom giveth life to them that have it. {defence: Heb. shadow}
So {is} he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
