And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Thou shalt not be affrighted at them: for the LORD thy God {is} among you, a mighty God and terrible.
Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he {is} God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;
And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, {which is} great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
And he said, LORD God of Israel, {there is} no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:
Now therefore, our God, the great, the mighty, and the terrible God, who keepest covenant and mercy, let not all the trouble seem little before thee, that hath come upon us, on our kings, on our princes, and on our priests, and on our prophets, and on our fathers, and on all thy people, since the time of the kings of Assyria unto this day. {trouble: Heb. weariness} {that...: Heb. that hath found us}
And what one nation in the earth {is} like thy people Israel, whom God went to redeem {to be} his own people, to make thee a name of greatness and terribleness, by driving out nations from before thy people, whom thou hast redeemed out of Egypt?
For the LORD most high {is} terrible; {he is} a great King over all the earth.
And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to {his} purpose.

Blessed {is} the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

(For the LORD thy God {is} a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word {which} he commanded to a thousand generations.
Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear {the guilty}; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth {generation}.
He hath given meat unto them that fear him: he will ever be mindful of his covenant. {meat: Heb. prey}
Let them praise thy great and terrible name; {for} it {is} holy.
Thou shewest lovingkindness unto thousands, and recompensest the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them: the Great, the Mighty God, the LORD of hosts, {is} his name,
And I prayed unto the LORD my God, and made my confession, and said, O Lord, the great and dreadful God, keeping the covenant and mercy to them that love him, and to them that keep his commandments;
Nevertheless I will remember my covenant with thee in the days of thy youth, and I will establish unto thee an everlasting covenant.
And hearken thou to the supplication of thy servant, and of thy people Israel, when they shall pray toward this place: and hear thou in heaven thy dwelling place: and when thou hearest, forgive. {toward this place: or, in this place}
For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.
Observe and hear all these words which I command thee, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee for ever, when thou doest {that which is} good and right in the sight of the LORD thy God.
