Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against {their} parents, and cause them to be put to death.

And ye shall be betrayed both by parents, and brethren, and kinsfolks, and friends; and {some} of you shall they cause to be put to death.

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.

For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man's enemies {are} the men of his own house.

Now there was long war between the house of Saul and the house of David: but David waxed stronger and stronger, and the house of Saul waxed weaker and weaker.

Look not upon me, because I {am} black, because the sun hath looked upon me: my mother's children were angry with me; they made me the keeper of the vineyards; {but} mine own vineyard have I not kept.

I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother's children.

Then she said, I desire one small petition of thee; {I pray thee}, say me not nay. And the king said unto her, Ask on, my mother: for I will not say thee nay.

So there was a division among the people because of him.
