At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping {him}, and desiring a certain thing of him.
And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
{Let} nothing {be done} through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
I wrote unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the preeminence among them, receiveth us not.
And he put forth a parable to those which were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief rooms; saying unto them,
And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.

And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?
And there was also a strife among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest.
And when Jesus knew {it}, he saith unto them, Why reason ye, because ye have no bread? perceive ye not yet, neither understand? have ye your heart yet hardened?
And he came to Capernaum: and being in the house he asked them, What was it that ye disputed among yourselves by the way?
But they held their peace: for by the way they had disputed among themselves, who {should be} the greatest.
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, {It is} because we have taken no bread.
But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.
