Then Horam king of Gezer came up to help Lachish; and Joshua smote him and his people, until he had left him none remaining.
Also he built Bethhoron the upper, and Bethhoron the nether, fenced cities, with walls, gates, and bars;
And the border went over from thence toward Luz, to the side of Luz, which {is} Bethel, southward; and the border descended to Atarothadar, near the hill that {lieth} on the south side of the nether Bethhoron.
And {as for} the western border, ye shall even have the great sea for a border: this shall be your west border.
And this {is} the reason of the levy which king Solomon raised; for to build the house of the LORD, and his own house, and Millo, and the wall of Jerusalem, and Hazor, and Megiddo, and Gezer.

And Solomon built Gezer, and Bethhoron the nether,

And the LORD discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

And they gave unto them, {of} the cities of refuge, Shechem in mount Ephraim with her suburbs; {they gave} also Gezer with her suburbs,
And the coast descended unto the river Kanah, southward of the river: these cities of Ephraim {are} among the cities of Manasseh: the coast of Manasseh also {was} on the north side of the river, and the outgoings of it were at the sea: {river Kanah: or, brook of reeds}
And it came to pass after this, that there arose war at Gezer with the Philistines; at which time Sibbechai the Hushathite slew Sippai, {that was} of the children of the giant: and they were subdued. {arose: or, continued: Heb. stood} {Gezer: also called, Gob} {Sippai: also called, Saph} {the giant: or, Rapha}
The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This {is} the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families.
