And David went up, and all Israel, to Baalah, {that is}, to Kirjathjearim, which {belonged} to Judah, to bring up thence the ark of God the LORD, that dwelleth {between} the cherubims, whose name is called {on it}.

And the south quarter {was} from the end of Kirjathjearim, and the border went out on the west, and went out to the well of waters of Nephtoah:

And they went up, and pitched in Kirjathjearim, in Judah: wherefore they called that place Mahanehdan unto this day: behold, {it is} behind Kirjathjearim.

And David arose, and went with all the people that {were} with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth {between} the cherubims. {Baale: or, Baalah, that is, Kirjathjearim} {whose name...: or, at which the name, even the name of the LORD of hosts, was called upon}

And the children of Israel journeyed, and came unto their cities on the third day. Now their cities {were} Gibeon, and Chephirah, and Beeroth, and Kirjathjearim.

And the border was drawn {thence}, and compassed the corner of the sea southward, from the hill that {lieth} before Bethhoron southward; and the goings out thereof were at Kirjathbaal, which {is} Kirjathjearim, a city of the children of Judah: this {was} the west quarter.

And there was a man of mount Ephraim, whose name {was} Micah.

And Abijah pursued after Jeroboam, and took cities from him, Bethel with the towns thereof, and Jeshanah with the towns thereof, and Ephrain with the towns thereof.

But the mountain shall be thine; for it {is} a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, {and} though they {be} strong.

And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjathjearim, saying, The Philistines have brought again the ark of the LORD; come ye down, {and} fetch it up to you.

These were the sons of Caleb the son of Hur, the firstborn of Ephratah; Shobal the father of Kirjathjearim, {Ephratah: also called, Ephreth}

Baalah, and Iim, and Azem,
