From Sihor, which {is} before Egypt, even unto the borders of Ekron northward, {which} is counted to the Canaanite: five lords of the Philistines; the Gazathites, and the Ashdothites, the Eshkalonites, the Gittites, and the Ekronites; also the Avites:

And now what hast thou to do in the way of Egypt, to drink the waters of Sihor? or what hast thou to do in the way of Assyria, to drink the waters of the river?
And the Avims which dwelt in Hazerim, {even} unto Azzah, the Caphtorims, which came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead.)
{Namely}, five lords of the Philistines, and all the Canaanites, and the Sidonians, and the Hivites that dwelt in mount Lebanon, from mount Baalhermon unto the entering in of Hamath.
For Gaza shall be forsaken, and Ashkelon a desolation: they shall drive out Ashdod at the noon day, and Ekron shall be rooted up.
Command the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye come into the land of Canaan; (this {is} the land that shall fall unto you for an inheritance, {even} the land of Canaan with the coasts thereof:)
And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen {it}, they returned to Ekron the same day.
Then said they, What {shall be} the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, {according to} the number of the lords of the Philistines: for one plague {was} on you all, and on your lords. {you: Heb. them}
Nevertheless the children of Israel expelled not the Geshurites, nor the Maachathites: but the Geshurites and the Maachathites dwell among the Israelites until this day.
And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth, {Sidon: Heb. Tzidon}
And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength {lieth}, and by what {means} we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him: and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred {pieces} of silver. {afflict: or, humble}

Woe unto the inhabitants of the sea coast, the nation of the Cherethites! the word of the LORD {is} against you; O Canaan, the land of the Philistines, I will even destroy thee, that there shall be no inhabitant.

And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it from Ebenezer unto Ashdod.
{From thence} it passed toward Azmon, and went out unto the river of Egypt; and the goings out of that coast were at the sea: this shall be your south coast.
And the lords of the Philistines passed on by hundreds, and by thousands: but David and his men passed on in the rereward with Achish.
And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, {even} fourteen days.
Rejoice not thou, whole Palestina, because the rod of him that smote thee is broken: for out of the serpent's root shall come forth a cockatrice, and his fruit {shall be} a fiery flying serpent. {cockatrice: or, adder}
So David gathered all Israel together, from Shihor of Egypt even unto the entering of Hemath, to bring the ark of God from Kirjathjearim.
Also Judah took Gaza with the coast thereof, and Askelon with the coast thereof, and Ekron with the coast thereof.
Also at the same time Solomon kept the feast seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt.
And by the border of Gad, at the south side southward, the border shall be even from Tamar {unto} the waters of strife {in} Kadesh, {and} to the river toward the great sea. {strife...: or, Meribahkadesh}
Ashdod with her towns and her villages, Gaza with her towns and her villages, unto the river of Egypt, and the great sea, and the border {thereof}:
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
And the golden mice, {according to} the number of all the cities of the Philistines {belonging} to the five lords, {both} of fenced cities, and of country villages, even unto the great {stone of} Abel, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD: {which stone remaineth} unto this day in the field of Joshua, the Bethshemite. {great...: or, great stone}
