Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I was jealous for Zion with great jealousy, and I was jealous for her with great fury.
Like as a father pitieth {his} children, {so} the LORD pitieth them that fear him.
So the angel that communed with me said unto me, Cry thou, saying, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy.
{It is of} the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not.

And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him.
They provoked him to jealousy with strange {gods}, with abominations provoked they him to anger.
