And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest {between} the cherubims, thou art the God, {even} thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth.
And I set my face unto the Lord God, to seek by prayer and supplications, with fasting, and sackcloth, and ashes:
And the children of Israel said to Samuel, Cease not to cry unto the LORD our God for us, that he will save us out of the hand of the Philistines. {Cease...: Heb. Be not silent from us from crying}
And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, {it is} nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou {art} our God; let not man prevail against thee. {man: or, mortal man}
Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
And said, O LORD God of our fathers, {art} not thou God in heaven? and rulest {not} thou over all the kingdoms of the heathen? and in thine hand {is there not} power and might, so that none is able to withstand thee?
Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who {am} I, O Lord GOD? and what {is} my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah put him at all to death? did he not fear the LORD, and besought the LORD, and the LORD repented him of the evil which he had pronounced against them? Thus might we procure great evil against our souls. {the LORD, and the: Heb. the face of the LORD, etc}
What prayer and supplication soever be {made} by any man, {or} by all thy people Israel, which shall know every man the plague of his own heart, and spread forth his hands toward this house:
And Elisha saw {it}, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces.
Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.
