Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept {it}.
Wherefore then {serveth} the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; {and it was} ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
He that despised Moses' law died without mercy under two or three witnesses:
I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed them that believed not.
Cursed {be} he that confirmeth not {all} the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.
Then shalt thou bring forth that man or that woman, which have committed that wicked thing, unto thy gates, {even} that man or that woman, and shalt stone them with stones, till they die.
And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that standeth to minister there before the LORD thy God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and thou shalt put away the evil from Israel. {and will...: Heb. not to hearken}
Your eyes have seen what the LORD did because of Baalpeor: for all the men that followed Baalpeor, the LORD thy God hath destroyed them from among you.

And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that {was} under them:
But with many of them God was not well pleased: for they were overthrown in the wilderness.
Now they that died in the plague were fourteen thousand and seven hundred, beside them that died about the matter of Korah.
Bring forth him that hath cursed without the camp; and let all that heard {him} lay their hands upon his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
But without faith {it is} impossible to please {him}: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and {that} he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, {and} go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour.
And the LORD sent fiery serpents among the people, and they bit the people; and much people of Israel died.
My doctrine shall drop as the rain, my speech shall distil as the dew, as the small rain upon the tender herb, and as the showers upon the grass:
If there be found among you, within any of thy gates which the LORD thy God giveth thee, man or woman, that hath wrought wickedness in the sight of the LORD thy God, in transgressing his covenant,

Therefore we ought to give the more earnest heed to the things which we have heard, lest at any time we should let {them} slip. {let...: Gr. run out as leaking vessels}
For the time {is come} that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if {it} first {begin} at us, what shall the end {be} of them that obey not the gospel of God?
But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.

A man shall be satisfied with good by the fruit of {his} mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

And Moses spake to the children of Israel, that they should bring forth him that had cursed out of the camp, and stone him with stones. And the children of Israel did as the LORD commanded Moses.
Whosoever toucheth the dead body of any man that is dead, and purifieth not himself, defileth the tabernacle of the LORD; and that soul shall be cut off from Israel: because the water of separation was not sprinkled upon him, he shall be unclean; his uncleanness {is} yet upon him.

This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge? the same did God send {to be} a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the angel which appeared to him in the bush.
And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.
And David saith, Let their table be made a snare, and a trap, and a stumblingblock, and a recompence unto them:
